The Salt of the Earth (NC16)

Southeast Asia Premiere

SYNOPSIS

Following the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity, Sebastião Salgado's photographic oeuvre sheds light on major events in our recent history, from the gold mines of Serra Pelada to ecological conservation projects on the Amazon. As an ode to his career, filmmakers Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, his son, trace the life and work of Salgado's 40 years of travelling through the continents in this Oscar-nominated film.

They accompany him on his photographic project, Genesis, dedicated to revealing the unblemished face of nature by documenting pristine territories, landscapes and wildlife. Interspersed with Wenders' breathtaking black-and-white footage, the film is a deeply moving journey of rediscovering faith in humanity that leaves us in awe.
